Free Financial Seminars:
Are you on a fixed income? Do you want to learn how to manage your finances? If you answered “Yes”, we are planning a collaborative program with Community Credit Union to help those on fixed incomes with those challenges in seminars with each month being a different  topic.

Location: The Armory 65 Central Ave. Lewiston-Senior Room
Time: 10 to 11:00
Dates & Subject: Fridays 1/26-Money Beliefs/Money Attitudes,(cancelled-rescheduled for June 28th )  4/26-Bridges Out of Poverty Constructs, 5/31-Health Savings Accounts. 

Until supplies last.....after attending the full 1 hour seminar, each participant will earn $25 gift certificate to a local grocery store. 


May 13th-Free Hearing Seminar                                   
Age-Related Hearing Loss is not reversible!
It's common for people to lose hearing gradually as they age. Because it happens slowly, you might not notice a difference at first. You may first pick up on it if you have trouble hearing someone on the phone or if you have to ask people to repeat what they say. Lets have a discussion about this together with someone who understands and knows about this subject. We are offering a free seminar to address the importance of taking care of your hearing.
Our presenter is Lisa Penney. She joined the Disability Rights of Maine as an advocate in 2018. Lisa has lived in Maine for all of her life. She is the sixth generation of a large, vibrant Deaf/Hard of Hearing family. She has worked in the field of assistive technology for over 20 years. Lisa is passionate about assisting others with    hearing loss.
We are really excited to have someone with this level of experience and knowledge to have this discussion!

May 13th-Advanced Final Arrangements Planning
We know it’s a difficult subject, however the discussion about funerals is a very important one to have. Join us for a detailed conversation about what you should be aware of while you make plans. A FREE light lunch will be provided by Albert & Burpee Funeral Home who will present the information and answer any questions you have about the process.

June 3rd Cooking Classes
Join Nutrition Educator Becca Schoen for this 4-session summer series, exploring MyPlate and healthy options for all! Each class will take a deep-dive into one or two of the food groups, and then together we will cook and enjoy a meal using seasonal ingredients from our local farmers. Come read to share tips, learn and cook together, and enjoy some tasty recipes! 
 
Sign up for the whole series, or just as many sessions as you can. A short re-introduction and kitchen grounding will take place at the beginning of each class as needed. 
**Topics in-order will include: 
1) MyPlate overview and identifying low fat, added sugar and added sodium options, 2) Everything fruits and vegetables; 3) Everything grains; 4) Everything protein and dairy. 
**Recipes will be selected based on growing season - it's an adventure!
 
Classes will take place from 12:00-2:00pm.
June 3rd, July 22nd , August 5th, and September 9th.
