Age Friendly Activities are open to any 50+ person and no membership is required to participate. 

Monthly Evening Dessert & Discuss
FREE for any 50+ Lewiston Residents and surrounding areas!

A new collaboration with AARP aims to create discussions and education on different topics that are important to the over 50 population. These 1 hour seminars will be on Wednesday of each month from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, in the Senior Room at the Lewiston Armory,
65 Central Ave. Lewiston.
Dates:
2024: 9/25-10/30, 11/20, 12/18
2025: 1/29, 2/26, 3/26, 4/30, 5/28/25

11/20/24:Hearing: Lisa Penney       
Lisa is an advocate for Maine Disability Rights since 2018. She is the sixth generation of a large, vibrant Deaf/Hard of Hearing family. She has worked in the field of assistive technology for over 20 years. Lisa is passionate about assisting others with hearing loss. Please join a discussion  where we talk about all things related to hearing loss  … hearing aids, strategies, over the counter products, and living with hearing loss.  
 
12/18/24: Red Flags and Scams on the Internet: Julie Gomez & Steve Elwell  
Julie has a background in computer science and years of experience teaching in the classroom and Steve has been a software developer and IT professional for over 30 years. They will take us through the Internet and explain what to look out for so we have the skills to protect ourselves from scams.

1/29/25: Krissie Bodkin-Rubino: Lewiston Housing Authority
Krissie is the Resident Success Manager and will be sharing information on the program that Lewiston Housing has to offer which includes the recent 1.25 million dollar grant money  to help seniors stay in their homes.

2/26/25 William Healey-Lewiston Chief Assessor: Discussion about Lewiston's Valuation Process
William is the Chief Assessor for Lewiston and will present the process of valuation. Join our discussion, Question & Answer session.

Wicked Illustration Sewing Lesson
 
Melanie Therrien will help us create some items that will warm our hands and neck during the cold month of January.  We’ll also have some pizza so you can warm yourself while we sew.
Tuesdays 1/14 - 10 to 12:00 Scarf/Mitten Combo: This scarf will also warm your hands. In addition to that we will sew fingerless gloves.
Tuesday 1/28 -10 to 12:00 Lavender filled neck warmer: This neck warmer can be put in the microwave to sooth those achy neck muscles.
Membership not required.
Registration   required for each session.       Limited Seating available.
