Welcome to the the Lewiston Senior Citizens Program page! We are a private organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. Our activities happen at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. in the Senior Center. Included with our annual membership fee are activities which are listed below as well as a monthly newsletter. Doors open at 8 a.m. play starts at 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Fee for league (Sept. to May) and optional weekly pool. This decision is up to each program manager.                                                                Membership LuncheonsLewiston Senior Citizens Luncheons are scheduled generally every other month with some exceptions. Lunches and special events are advertised only in the monthly LSC newsletter for members. Registration for these lunches needs to be done on the phone or in the office. Online registration is not available for these events. Lewiston Senior Citizens Holiday PartyHilton Garden Inn-Auburn, MEDate: December 20, 2024  Time: 11:30 a.m.Our luncheon will include Roasted Pork Loin, Baked Haddock served with ritz crumb topping, oven roasted potatoes, green beans almondine, garden salad, rolls, coffee, tea, lemonade and dessert.Cash bar available.Price for Members $25. Non Members $30When registering online the $5 2024 LSC discount will appear at check out. We will have entertainment and possible appearance from Santa who may have prizes and a 50/50 drawing.Deadline to buy tickets in the senior office will be Thursday 12/12/24 before 2:00 PM                                                Day TripsTrip information will be posted here when they are scheduled and announced by the LSC Board of directors. Link to register is below.  Note: All trip refunds issued by the Lewiston Senior Citizens will be subject to a $10 administrative fee. There is a 2% non refundable charge when using a credit card. Trips cannot be cancelled 14 days prior to the trip date. You are advised to find someone to purchase your spot to keep from losing money.                                           Online Registration Information:-You do not need to be a LSC member to register for day trips. You must have an account set up in MY Rec to register online. If you are a 2024 LSC Member there is an account set up for you already.-Click on the trip you are choosing. Follow each step carefully when you get to completing your purchases you'll have 2 options. Option 1: A complete online registration to purchase a trip or membership is only available by credit card purchase.Option 2: If you want to register online but not use a credit card you can do this but your seat is not reserved until approved by Lewiston Rec staff. 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM    Age Friendly 50+ Program: Let's Get Moving! (Yoga, Walking....) - Chair Yoga
Age Friendly activities are open to any person 50+ and no membership is required. These programs have body movement in mind! Wear comfortable clothes,sturdy foot ware,and bring a water bottle. #keepbodyandmindactive DROP IN PROGRAMS Registration not required! Chair YogaDebbie Hallowell has been a Yoga practitioner for over 15 years, trained in many levels of yoga. All levels of skills welcome.Time: Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. FEE:$3 Age Friendly Members. $4 Non MembersOpen Gym at the Armory Walking: Get your steps in! One time around the court is about 200 steps. Its warm and the floor is a safe and smooth surface. We are open to those 50+ only on:Times: Tuesday and Thursday mornings 8:00 to 9:00             Monday 1:00 to 2:00Gym Floor: You have access to the floor to play basket ball, corn hole..... FEE:Free for Age Friendly Members  $1 for Non Members                                                                    Below activities registration is required!   Spring 2025Bates College Walking Club: The Lewiston Recreation Age Friendly program is excited to announce another collaboration year with Bates College. In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles the goal of this program is to encourage the area 50+ population to take advantage of the outdoors, get some exercise and eat healthy.The Bates Walking Group will start walking again Friday Sept 6th at 10:00 to 11:00. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12.We will meet at Bates College Campus on the right side of the Dining Services building and walk throughout the campus. Stephanie will lead a slower paced walk with available seating if needed.Fee: FreeGentle YogaThis Gentle Yoga class is specifically geared towards the adult population with intellectual and/or physical disabilities or rehabbing an injury.                           Debbie Hallowell will guide participants through Chair Yoga movements to help with healthy core strength and stretching exercises. Care takers/BHP are encouraged to attend with the client.Lewiston Armory access:There is ADA handicapped access to the Lewiston Armory on the left side of the building facing the Middle School as well as the  Senior Entrance in front of the Armory on the right. There is handicap parking available in front of the  armory and on Vale Street.  Time: Tuesday 10:15 to 11:00 Registration is required. Limited spaces available. 4 February TuesdaysUNO LEAGUE Join us from 10 AM to 12PM for some competitive UNO games. Age Friendly members are free and can bring a friend for free too.Each player will play the 4  Tuesdays and accumulate points the first 3 weeks. Playoffs will be the last Tuesday of Feb 2/25 Prizes awarded and a chance to take a picture with our           notorious Picchu Lewiston    Recreation trophy and a picture on our FaceBook page! Scroll down to register!  DROP IN GAMES (Registration not required) Join us to play Dominoes, Canasta, Cribbage or something of your choosing! All levels welcome and we'll teach you if you are new to the game! These games are "drop in" and registration is NOT required. CanastaEvery Monday. The Senior Room/Drill Room is available for you to use to join us in Canasta or other games if you choose. Table tennis supports hand-eye coordination, keeps reflexes sharp, and helps raise your heart rate! You will also meet players from around Lewiston who enjoy the sport.This drop-in program costs $2 for residents and $3 for non-residents.Registration is not required, although we recommend signing up for communication purposes.Questions? In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles the goal of this program is to encourage the area 50+ population to take advantage of the outdoors, get some exercise and eat healthy.The Bates Walking Group will start walking again Friday Sept 6th at 10:00 to 11:00. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12.We will meet at Bates College Campus on the right side of the Dining Services building and walk throughout the campus. Stephanie will lead a slower paced walk with available seating if needed.Fee: FreeGentle YogaThis Gentle Yoga class is specifically geared towards the adult population with intellectual and/or physical disabilities or rehabbing an injury.                           Debbie Hallowell will guide participants through Chair Yoga movements to help with healthy core strength and stretching exercises. Care takers/BHP are encouraged to attend with the client.Lewiston Armory access:There is ADA handicapped access to the Lewiston Armory on the left side of the building facing the Middle School as well as the  Senior Entrance in front of the Armory on the right. Age Friendly activities are open to any person 50+ and no membership is required. These programs have body movement in mind! In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles the goal of this program is to encourage the area 50+ population to take advantage of the outdoors, get some exercise and eat healthy.The Bates Walking Group will start walking again Friday Sept 6th at 10:00 to 11:00. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12.We will meet at Bates College Campus on the right side of the Dining Services building and walk throughout the campus. Stephanie will lead a slower paced walk with available seating if needed.Fee: FreeGentle YogaThis Gentle Yoga class is specifically geared towards the adult population with intellectual and/or physical disabilities or rehabbing an injury.                           Debbie Hallowell will guide participants through Chair Yoga movements to help with healthy core strength and stretching exercises. In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles the goal of this program is to encourage the area 50+ population to take advantage of the outdoors, get some exercise and eat healthy.The Bates Walking Group will start walking again Friday Sept 6th at 10:00 to 11:00. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12.We will meet at Bates College Campus on the right side of the Dining Services building and walk throughout the campus. Stephanie will lead a slower paced walk with available seating if needed.Fee: FreeGentle YogaThis Gentle Yoga class is specifically geared towards the adult population with intellectual and/or physical disabilities or rehabbing an injury.                           Debbie Hallowell will guide participants through Chair Yoga movements to help with healthy core strength and stretching exercises. In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles the goal of this program is to encourage the area 50+ population to take advantage of the outdoors, get some exercise and eat healthy.The Bates Walking Group will start walking again Friday Sept 6th at 10:00 to 11:00. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12.We will meet at Bates College Campus on the right side of the Dining Services building and walk throughout the campus. Stephanie will lead a slower paced walk with available seating if needed.Fee: FreeGentle YogaThis Gentle Yoga class is specifically geared towards the adult population with intellectual and/or physical disabilities or rehabbing an injury.                           Debbie Hallowell will guide participants through Chair Yoga movements to help with healthy core strength and stretching exercises. In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles the goal of this program is to encourage the area 50+ population to take advantage of the outdoors, get some exercise and eat healthy.The Bates Walking Group will start walking again Friday Sept 6th at 10:00 to 11:00. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12.We will meet at Bates College Campus on the right side of the Dining Services building and walk throughout the campus. Stephanie will lead a slower paced walk with available seating if needed.Fee: FreeGentle YogaThis Gentle Yoga class is specifically geared towards the adult population with intellectual and/or physical disabilities or rehabbing an injury.                           Debbie Hallowell will guide participants through Chair Yoga movements to help with healthy core strength and stretching exercises. Care takers/BHP are encouraged to attend with the client.Lewiston Armory access:There is ADA handicapped access to the Lewiston Armory on the left side of the building facing the Middle School as well as the  Senior Entrance in front of the Armory on the right. Welcome to the the Lewiston Senior Citizens Program page! We are a private organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. Our activities happen at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. in the Senior Center. Included with our annual membership fee are activities which are listed below as well as a monthly newsletter. Doors open at 8 a.m. play starts at 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Fee for league (Sept. to May) and optional weekly pool. This decision is up to each program manager.                                                                Membership LuncheonsLewiston Senior Citizens Luncheons are scheduled generally every other month with some exceptions. Lunches and special events are advertised only in the monthly LSC newsletter for members. Registration for these lunches needs to be done on the phone or in the office. Online registration is not available for these events. Lewiston Senior Citizens Holiday PartyHilton Garden Inn-Auburn, MEDate: December 20, 2024  Time: 11:30 a.m.Our luncheon will include Roasted Pork Loin, Baked Haddock served with ritz crumb topping, oven roasted potatoes, green beans almondine, garden salad, rolls, coffee, tea, lemonade and dessert.Cash bar available.Price for Members $25. Non Members $30When registering online the $5 2024 LSC discount will appear at check out. We will have entertainment and possible appearance from Santa who may have prizes and a 50/50 drawing.Deadline to buy tickets in the senior office will be Thursday 12/12/24 before 2:00 PM                                                Day TripsTrip information will be posted here when they are scheduled and announced by the LSC Board of directors. Link to register is below.  Note: All trip refunds issued by the Lewiston Senior Citizens will be subject to a $10 administrative fee. There is a 2% non refundable charge when using a credit card. Trips cannot be cancelled 14 days prior to the trip date. You are advised to find someone to purchase your spot to keep from losing money.                                           Online Registration Information:-You do not need to be a LSC member to register for day trips. You must have an account set up in MY Rec to register online. If you are a 2024 LSC Member there is an account set up for you already.-Click on the trip you are choosing. Follow each step carefully when you get to completing your purchases you'll have 2 options. Option 1: A complete online registration to purchase a trip or membership is only available by credit card purchase.Option 2: If you want to register online but not use a credit card you can do this but your seat is not reserved until approved by Lewiston Rec staff. This is called Pre-registration. When you reach the choice of  CHECK OUT ON LINE or PRINT A PRE-REGISTRATION FORM click on Print a pre-registration form.
