Age Friendly activities are open to any person 50+ and no membership is required. These programs have body movement in mind! One time around the court is about 200 steps. Its warm and the floor is a safe and smooth surface. In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles the goal of this program is to encourage the area 50+ population to take advantage of the outdoors, get some exercise and eat healthy.The Bates Walking Group will start walking again Friday May 2nd until mid June at 10:00 to 11:00. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12. (Credit cards only)We will meet at Bates College Campus on the right side of the Dining Services building at the red picnic tables and walk throughout the campus. Lewiston Recreation offers 4 Adult Volleyball leagues of various levels of play. Only 1 person, typically the captain of the team, will need to register for a league. If you don't have a team, you can reach out to Tim Duchette at tduchette@lewistonmaine.gov to see if any current captains who have registered need a player OR join the Facebook groups for each league and join a team there. The 2 groups are called "COED B & C Volleyball" and "Lewiston RCO Volleyball."COED B Volleyball League This league, played on Wednesdays, is meant for veteran players of the sport that includes 1 practice week where you will scrimmage against another team. This is then followed by a competitive 10 week regular season and a 2 week single elimination playoffs to decide who the League Champs are! We offer both a Fall/Winter Season (Oct. to Mid Jan.) & a Winter/Spring (Late Jan. to Mid April). Game start times are 7:15PM, 8:15PM or 9:15PM.Game ScheduleCOED C Volleyball League This league, played on Wednesdays, is meant for those who are new or still learning the sport of volleyball which includes 1 practice week where you scrimmage against another team. Two Pickleball nets will be set up for families to hit around and have fun. Pickleball Paddles and equipment will be provided alongside Basketballs. In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles the goal of this program is to encourage the area 50+ population to take advantage of the outdoors, get some exercise and eat healthy.The Bates Walking Group will start walking again Friday May 2nd until mid June at 10:00 to 11:00. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12. (Credit cards only)We will meet at Bates College Campus on the right side of the Dining Services building at the red picnic tables and walk throughout the campus. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12. Registration Fee: The registration fee is $40, plus an item donation for our vendor raffle. A recreation department staff member will visit your table after you check in, to collect the item. Proceeds help offer free/low cost programs for our City's youth. Tables are first come-first serve. Multi-level marketing tables are limited to one per company. Vendors who are selling food must provide their kitchen ID number upon registration. Spaces: Spaces are roughly 10ft X 10ft. Each vendor will be provided with an 8ft long rectangular table and chair(s). Vendors may bring their own table, racks etc., for display. If you need electricity, please make sure that you note this in your registration.Food and Drink: Concession items will be available (water, candy, chips, soft drinks). Roaming Eats and Halo Sips will be joining us again for this year's fair!Event Set-Up/Break Down: Bay doors will open at 7:30 AM for vendors to start setting up booth areas. Vendors must be broken down by 4:30 PM.Parking: Vendors should park behind the middle school after dropping off their merchandise in the gym.Event Promotion: Our event gets advertised in multiple news papers, calendars, on social media, and throughout the City.Please feel free to send photos of your products to cmorin@lewistonmaine.gov, we will be using them in our social media posts.Cancellations: Vendors who cancel their registration can receive a refund, minus a $10 administrative fee. In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles the goal of this program is to encourage the area 50+ population to take advantage of the outdoors, get some exercise and eat healthy.The Bates Walking Group will start walking again Friday May 2nd until mid June at 10:00 to 11:00. Those who choose to can end the sessions at Bates Dining Commons to take advantage of their lunch menu for $12. (Credit cards only)We will meet at Bates College Campus on the right side of the Dining Services building at the red picnic tables and walk throughout the campus.
